Unlike Jack and yourself, Sandra appears to have a genuine interest in understanding the issues in question, beyond the political desire to affirm an underlying transgenderism in a rather common fetish.

"unintelligible psychological babble from wxhluyp"

Such as?

"When you are peace with an issue it shows and he is showing precisely the opposite."

Your reason for posting here, on the crossdreamers blog & TWT's site? Your ideological desire to affirm and propagate an understanding of an underlying deterministic transgenderism within this fetish. My reason for posting? Everything about my fetish and it's affiliated psychologies fascinates me, above all else I am interested in what makes sense, in the face of a discourse (crossdreaming) which not only is seldom interested in really what makes sense, but actively lies & manipulates to achieve the ideological goals mentioned above.

"Jack Molay's crossdreaming site takes the very reasonable position (which I happen to agree with) that not all gender variance is necessarily rooted in gender dysphoria and that there are different types of individuals who crossdream (some of whom end up being transsexuals). The key is to figure out where you stand on the spectrum and to proceed accordingly to stay balanced and happy."

Rather Malusmalus put it eloquently;

"All they are going to learn now is that there are "fetish" crossdreamers OR "dysphoric" crossdreamers so that if one develops some measure of dysphoria, their fetish is no longer a fetish but is now magically the suppressed sexuality of the "inner woman" LOL! Hint to self hating fetishists: Gin up some dysphoria and you won't have to be one of those awful fetishistic perverts anymore."

"If we had an answer to what causes gender variance it would be published as accepted fact"

The question is a fallacy, for gender isn't a substance that varies, in the same sense that national identity spread over a bordering countries isn't of a varying essence.

"Most transgender people themselves go by feel but don't bother educating themselves on the theories of the day which is a shame. In all likelihood there is a combination of biological factors coupled with nurturing that conspire to produce a gender variant individual. The problem is that we don't know to what degree one predominates over the other and how the proportions vary from person to person."

You say this, yet you don't understand what you mean by nurture (constructivism), for you in turn to even articulate how it could possibly relate to nature.

"1) & 2)"

It IS a psychology, just as all identity & experience itself is psychological. The question you should have reached by now is of how psychology can be influenced by biology.

"You know who you are and that's good but we are all different."

You like to throw around variations of this phrase. Perhaps you could take you own advice, instead of going around lying and then moaning when you are caught out.

You have opened up a can of worms here Sandra and as Jack Molay has already discovered you will simply be flooded with often unintelligible psychological babble from wxhluyp which is why he has been banned from Jack's site as a troll and now haunts TWT's site. I also would delete any postings he would post on my blog.
Clearly he has some fixation bothering him otherwise he would not post so persistently and so adamantly trying to dispel what he feels are erroneous assumptions about crossdreaming/crossdressing and any associated arousal that comes with it. When you are peace with an issue it shows and he is showing precisely the opposite.

My interest in this topic is dispelling any conclusions based on what people state to be fact but which are actually assumptions based on nothing more than opinion. If we had an answer to what causes gender variance it would be published as accepted fact and no one would argue with it but in fact there are differences of opinion. The people who have treated hundreds of transgender and transsexual people don't themselves agree on what the origin is. Most transgender people themselves go by feel but don't bother educating themselves on the theories of the day which is a shame.

"What you end up with is a hodge podge of pseudo science and a made up word (Autogynephilia) which basically does nothing more than describe masturbation."

"The reason people masturbate to the idea of being a woman was never explained"

Sexual arousal by the anxiety of oneself being associated to symbols of emasculation, for which themes commonly represented in terms of embodying the female, or feminization are always going to be popular, such the the idea itself of being attracted to males, even the idea of NOT being attracted to women!

"we are left with the only litmus test that exists - does transition work?"

Transition isn't relevant to me. Obtaining a female body, nor living in the role isn't relevant to my fantasy theme niches, nor (generally therefore) have I become emotionally attached to such things.

very simple:
1) the assertion that the transgender condition is purely psychological construction. That has not been proven.
2) The suggestion that your argument for psychological construction applies to all transgender/transsexual people.

"The problem I have is when people like him try to generalize the entire transgender condition to one that fits only their experience."

You already know that neither myself or TWT generalise all trans psychology, only the psychology on part of those subject to the fetish in question. And you should already know that I & TWT's are the ones freeing fetishism & fetishists from the essentialist & trans-reductionist discourse of "crossdreaming". Joanna bemoans what ultimately is a fetishist presenting how he is anything other than a repressed transsexual.

"Much can happen during embryonic development that we cant possibly begin to understand and the brain is an exceedingly complex organ that we have only begun to understand and map."

The brain is indeed a complex organ. Joanna doesn't understand constructivism, and therefore struggles to understand how we can delimit the possible relationship between constructs and biological influences.

Blanchard was only interested in asking whether the person was masturbating in women's clothes or to the idea of being a woman. His work with Kurt Freund greatly influenced him. However if one followed the sex theme that meant he had to also explain androphilic transsexualism which was awkwardly explained by saying that these homosexual males were looking to bond with heterosexual males. They are described as sissys and effiminates in the writings of Blanchard and Bailey. They could not explain female to male transexualism at all and completely ignored it thus making the work unscientific and shoddy. What you end up with is a hodge podge of pseudo science and a made up word (Autogynephilia) which basically does nothing more than describe masturbation. The reason people masturbate to the idea of being a woman was never explained and even Anne Lawrence tries to awkwardly come behind Blanchard to tie up loose ends but fails miserably.
In absence of a perfect explanation we are left with the only litmus test that exists - does transition work? yes it does but not for every one. The trick is to find the right balance of cross gender expression that works for you and manages the dysphoria - regardless of its origin.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Sandra and there is indeed a place for emasculation fetishists like wxhluyp in the wide spectrum that is sexual and gender expression. The problem I have is when people like him try to generalize the entire transgender condition to one that fits only their experience. I know some transsexuals who are perfectly happy as they are and never went through a phase where they needed to dress up in latex clothing and 5 inch heels; they just simply felt they were women and transitioned. Others who are in between can live between genders comfortably and find their balance.
Much can happen during embryonic development that we cant possibly begin to understand and the brain is an exceedingly complex organ that we have only begun to understand and map.
I have the same problem with classic transsexuals who denigrate the experiences of people who fall short of transitioning and call them fetish transvestites. Historically these have typically been androphilic transsexuals although they represent an older generation that is disappearing. What you are seeing now are gynephilic transsexuals transitioning younger due to the removal of the stigma and the removal of pressures to conform to the binary.
