Great blog. Can you share what source the statistics came from you are sharing. They are higher than I have seen of recent. I attempt to keep up with the communities needs. I do assist with facilitating groups, Jay

Hi Bobbi, and thanks so much for your comment :) I love the way you put it: "I'm hopelessly a crossdresser". I believe that label pretty much applies to me as well, in spite of what I've been thinking recently. There is a huge mental and physical barrier to overcome, and I'm certainly not sure at all that I'm equal to the task. Worse than that, even failing and turning back is a scary idea. Imagine that after six months of having dealt with all the aspects of transition, shunning family and friends, I finally realise that life as a woman is not for me, and decide to go back to "plain old crossdressing" — and will have to tell everybody again that I'm back as a male and that I made a huge mistake. Going through that once is almost unbearable; going through it twice and having to listen to all those "I told you so" would be pure insanity!

I've read quite a lot about transition plans, but almost all are invariably addressed to primary (classical) transexuals. It is assumed that they're willing either to die or to go through transition, so things are, in a sense, "easier": there is not much to decide except a timeline. The first step is always figuring out if one's really a transexual. You're not supposed to have any doubts about that. I do, I have lots of doubts, and talking with specialist therapists will not dispel those doubts for me, they will only validate that there are, indeed, others that feel the same way as I do, and what worked better for them.

I truly appreciate your big hug :) But I think you will agree with me that "first looks" matter a lot, and I would have to be prepared to deal with that during and after transition: rejection from my "new look". Only after I manage to engage in some conversation after that first bad impression I would be able to convince people otherwise. Right now, to break the ice, in "male mode", I just rely on smiling :)

And it's too early to wish me anything. These are just preliminary thoughts; I have made absolutely no decision yet beyond thinking about it...

i wish you the best for you. Hopefully you can get some great information and make an intelligent decision based on your needs. I must tell you I love your blogs. You really are not afraid to show what is going on.

Myself, I am hopelessly a crossdresser. I don't think I could go thru the mental and physical aspects of changing. By the way, I hope you don't find offense, but there is no way in the world you can be considered "ugly". You are a warm, intelligent human being and if I ran across you, I would walk up and give you a big hug.

Thank you for this wonderful blog. I wish you nothing but the best
